The Battle of the Books is a reading incentive program for students in grades 4-12. The purpose is to encourage students to read good books and have fun while competing with their peers. The Battle of the Books is a single-day event where students will compete by answering questions about the books on the official Battle Booklist.
Battle of the Books sign-ups are limited to Yorba Linda residents, Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District students or students attending schools within the City of Yorba Linda.

The Battle of the Books will take place on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at
Yorba Linda High School.

Make studying for Battle of the Books fun! The Yorba Linda Public Library offers study times that are open to all Battle participants. Teams may use these times to meet at the library to study together or quiz each other. They can practice author names or ask each other questions from books they’ve read. The library offers study times so participants have a place to study together, but guided study is not offered. However, each study time will include 15-20 minutes of battle practice (times will vary based on staff availability). Library staff will ask sample questions to give participants an idea of what a battle is like. Battle practice can be beneficial for teams, not only making them more familiar with battle procedure, but also giving them a chance to ask questions. All participants are welcome, even if the whole team cannot attend the study time.
